Australian Financial Directions Pty Ltd (“AFD”), ABN 14 135 004 94, is the holder of AFSL No. 344971 and specialises in providing AFSL services to Advisers who wish to operate their own business but remain part of a boutique organisation.
AFD was founded by Richard (Rick) Dougherty, joint founder of Australian Life Brokers (the first national independent life brokerage in Australia) and also joint founder and director of the Mawson Group, which went on to become a well-recognised brand in the financial planning industry. Rick retired from the CEO role in August 2019 – handing the reins to John Claessen.
John has over 25 years of Australian financial services experience and it is this experience and knowledge of the industry’s workings that helps ensure advisers are informed, compliant and maintaining education standards without being overloaded with unnecessary material.
